HC Deb 12 April 1961 vol 638 c30W
Mr. Mason

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what regulations govern the granting of permission to civil servants to join private firms on retirement.

Sir E. Boyle

Under the arrangements laid down in the White Paper (Cmd. 5517) issued in 1937, civil servants of the rank of under-secretary and above, and more junior officers occupying posts of a special character, are required to seek the approval of the Government before they accept, within a period of two years after their retirement, appointments with firms having, for example, contractual relations with the Government.
