asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he will introduce legislation to enable the payments of grant, other than under the Rural Water Supplies and Sewage Act, 1944, or the Housing and Town Development (Scotland) Act, 1957, to local authorities constructing or improving sewage disposal works to the standards required by the river purification boards, such payments to be in respect of that proportion of the expenditure which is necessary to meet these standards instead of existing standards; and whether he will provide in such legislation that local authorities which now proceed with such construction or improvement will benefit.

Most pupils in grant-aided schools follow senior secondary courses, and the time normally allocated to mathematics
