asked the Minister of Works if he will itemise the proposed expenditure of £115,873 on maintenance and repairs at Hampton Court Palace.

Details are as follows:

£
24,680 for day-to-day cleaning, maintenance and repair of the structure and sanitary services.
9,485 for operation, maintenance and repair of the engineering plant and services.
5,425 for painting.
68,390 for items of special maintenance and repair to the fabric and sanitary services of which:
£11,500 for work to roofs.
£12,500 for restoration of stonework.
£7,000 for floors, gutters, chimneys, etc.
£34,000 for desilting and repairing the banks of the Longford River.
£3,390 for miscellaneous small items.
7,893 for wages of cleaners, attendants, watchmen, etc.
£115,873

asked the Minister of Works if he will state the purpose of the proposed expenditure of £2,300 on new works and alterations to the Hampton Court Stud House.

The amount is required to complete the restoration of the historic 17th century stables which suffered serious war damage.
