§ 77. Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is aware of continuing anxiety in respect of the inadequate control of the sale of air-guns and similar weapons, particularly to young people; and whether he will now introduce legislation to deal with the position.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerThe existing law prohibits the sale or hire of a firearm of any kind, including an air weapon, to a person under the age of 17, and I have no evidence that there is any widespread failure to observe this provision. I am considering whether any additional controls over air weapons are needed.
