HC Deb 25 November 1960 vol 630 c145W
Mr. Stonehouse

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if he will state the names of the citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies and British protected persons arrested in Southern Rhodesia under the Vagrancy Act, and give the details in each case of the efforts he has made to secure release.

Mr. Sandys

The Southern Rhodesia Minister of Labour, Social Welfare and Housing has stated in the Southern Rhodesia Legislature that in the personal interests of those concerned, it is not proposed to publish the names of those arrested, but they will be given confidentially to the Legislative Assembly. I will send the hon. Member the names on the same basis when I receive them.

As regards the last part of the Question, no information or representations have been received justifying action by Her Majesty's Government.
