HC Deb 21 November 1960 vol 630 cc80-1W
Dr. A. Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will appoint a committee to inquire into the status and responsibilities of the Royal College of Science and Technology, Glasgow, with terms of reference sufficiently wide to allow the recommendation that the college be granted the status of a two-faculty, degree-granting technological university.

Mr. Maclay

I would refer the hon. Member to the report inUniversity Development 1952–57 (Cmnd. 534) of the University Grants Committee's consideration of the College's functions and status. I see no ground for any special inquiry at this stage.
