HC Deb 21 November 1960 vol 630 c83W
Major Wall

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, in view of the recent intimidation of medical and agricultural teams, he is satisfied that there are sufficient police to safeguard law and order in Nyasaland.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Yes. The difficulties encountered by these teams arise from non-co-operation of the general population which sometimes, but not always, stems from intimidation. In cases where the teams have been hindered by physical intimidation the police have frequently been successful in arresting and securing the conviction of offenders.
