HC Deb 17 November 1960 vol 630 c61W
67. Mr. G. M. Thomson

asked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations if he will initiate talks with the Government of Pakistan regarding the desirability of ensuring regular supplies of raw jute from Pakistan to the United Kingdom at stable prices.

Mr. Sandys

The recent shortage of supplies and high prices were due to the failure of the early rains and other reasons which could not have been obviated by any action by Governments.
