§ Mr. John Hallasked the Minister of Transport, in view of the fact that revenue from the issue of driving licences considerably exceeds the cost of issue, and that fees for driving licences were fixed by the Road Traffic Act, 1956, on the basis that there should be no loss to the Exchequer and not as a method of raising additional tax revenue, if he will reduce the fee to 10s.
§ Mr. MarplesNo. When the period of validity of driving licences was extended by the Road Traffic Act, 1956, it was made clear that the transaction was not to involve any loss of receipts to the Exchequer.
