§ 48. Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Prime Minister if he will state his proposals for a new Summit meeting; how far these proposals were discussed and agreed during his recent conversations 28W with other Heads of State; and what differences of opinion still exist.
§ The Prime MinisterI have stated publicly that, if we can have a Summit Conference, both for the problem of Berlin and Germany and for other purposes, and if the Presidents of the United States and of France agree, I am all for it. I have also expressed the hope that such a Conference may take place during 1961.
