§ Mr. McLarenasked the President of the Board of Trade when he proposes to raise the fees for patents and trade marks so that they cover the cost incurred by the Patent Office in dealing with them.
§ Mr. MaudlingIt is the policy of Her Majesty's Government that the cost of administering the Patents and Trade Marks Acts should be covered by the fees which are charged. There is a deficit at present and I intend to make an Order increasing trade marks fees.24W An amendment of the Patents Act, 1949, will be necessary before the application fees for patents can be increased and a Bill has been introduced in another place.
