§ Mr. Biggs-Davisonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in view of the difficulties experienced by European police officers in controlling onlookers during the visit of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother to Lusaka, whether he will assure the police and administration in Northern Rhodesia that they will be fully supported in all proper measures to keep law and order.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodI have had no reports from official sources that police officers in Lusaka experienced difficulties of the kind to which the hon. Member refers. I have already made it abundantly clear that the Governor and his administration has my full support in any measures which he might find necessary for the support of law and order.
