Friend the Minister of Transport has sent the Scottish Transport Users' Consultative Committee the statement for which it asked reconciling the Government policy for the Highlands as set out in the White Paper of June, 1959, which includes the development of tourism, with the action taken by the British Transport Commission to close certain stations and branch lines North of Inverness. I have asked my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport to send a copy of his statement to the hon. Member.
