§ 7. Mr. Iremongerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what percentage of the £172,900 loans required by the Essex County Council for essential fire service building work has been sanctioned by him; and when he intends to review the situation.
§ Mr. RentonThe Essex County Council has received approval for fire service building work to the value of £41,200 to be financed by loan in 1960–61. In conjunction with his colleagues, my right hon. Friend will shortly be reviewing capital investment in the fire service in the light of its relationship to investment in the public sector as a whole, and the needs of Essex, with those of other fire authorities, will be borne in mind. My right hon. Friend is not yet able to say what the result of this review will be.
