§ 20. Mr. Dribergasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will publish in HANSARD the text of the statements made at a Press conference in Los Angeles by Mr. Leslie Glass, head of the British Information Services in the United States of America, on the subject of the shooting down of a United States reconnaissance aircraft in Soviet territory; and if these statements were made with his authority.
§ Mr. ProfumoThe answer to the first part of the Question is, No.
Mr. Glass gave no Press conference in Los Angeles and made no Statement. I understand that some publicity has been given to an incomplete report of some remarks which he made to two American journalists. In the circumstances there was therefore no question of authorisation.
