HC Deb 09 May 1960 vol 623 cc2-3W
Captain Kerby

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that it is the frequent custom for patients on the National Health Service to seek medical advice and prescriptions on a private basis and thereafter induce their National Health Service doctors to write out identical prescriptions on the official form; and if he will make an assessment of the extent of this practice.

Mr. Walker-Smith

If my hon. and gallant Friend's suggestion is that National Health Service doctors are copying out on National Health Service forms prescriptions issued by other general practitioners who are treating the patients privately, I have no reason to suppose that irregular arrangements of this type are at all frequent.
