HC Deb 04 May 1960 vol 622 c74W
35. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Postmaster-General, in view of complaints in the Borough of Leyton by persons whose hands have been smeared with red paint when dropping letters into pillar post boxes, whether his Department will take steps to secure that where repainting is done directly by the Post Office or by the Ministry of Works the public shall be protected adequately from this nuisance.

Miss Pike

I am not aware of any general difficulty of the kind the hon. Member mentions, but I am very sorry that he should have been troubled' in the way he was. The contractors who do this work normally put up warning notices, and I am seeing whether any further precautions should be taken.
