HC Deb 04 May 1960 vol 622 c72W
Captain Kerby

asked the Civil Lord of the Admiralty what are his plans for the disposal, with the possible exception of two vessels, of all other surviving ocean mine-sweepers in the next two years; and whether he is satisfied that the disposal of these 24 ships will not place too much reliance on the coastal minesweeper force, when these ships have been re-engined, in view of their inability to operate with sweeping gear in very heavy seas.

Mr. C. Ian Orr-Ewing

National security would not be helped by premature public statements concerning the future plans for the minesweeping forces.
