§ Mr. Websterasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will take further steps to publicise the assistance given by the United Kingdom to overseas territories.
Mr. AmoryI have today laid before Parliament a White Paper on this subject which, I hope, will receive full publicity. It shows that assistance from the United Kingdom Government funds to less developed territories has risen from about £80 million in 1957–58 to nearly £140 million in 1959–60. This is in addition to the overseas investment of private capital estimated at about £300 million a year, of which not less than £100 million has been invested in such territories.
