§ Mr. Brewisasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is satisfied as to the effectiveness of chemical control of bracken; and whether he will now assist chemical spraying with a grant under Bracken Eradication Scheme.
§ Mr. MaclayNo. I am advised that further investigation is necessary in order to assess the degree of effectiveness of chemical spraying as a method of bracken control. The matter is being studied by the Agricultural Research Council which is in close touch with the wide range of experimental work which is going on.
