asked Her Majesty's Government how many consultants retired from the National Health Service in each of the last five calendar years, and how many in each year had an A, B or C merit award at the time of their retirement.

I regret that information is not available for the period requested. The number of consultants who retired on reaching the age limit was 147 between July 1, 1958, and June 30, 1959. Of this number 29 had an A award, 19 a B award and 33 a C award.
