§ Mr. T. Fraserasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made by river purification authorities in implementing the provisions of Part III of the Rivers (Prevention of Pollution) (Scotland) Act, 1951.
§ Mr. MaclayThe implementation of these provisions is necessarily a long-term job, but the reports of the river purification boards show that, despite the financial and other problems20W involved, reasonable progress has been made in improving trade and sewage effluents. If the right hon. Gentleman would like to see any of these reports, I shall be glad to send him copies.
