§ Lieut.-Colonel Cordeauxasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a further statement about aid for Agadir.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydHer Majesty's Government have decided to make available a further sum of £10,000 for the relief of the victims of the Agadir disaster. This is in addition to the sum of £10,000 to which my right hon. Friend referred in his reply to the hon. Member for Coventry, North (Mr. Edelman) on 2nd March. The money will be devoted mainly to the provision of food and of prefabricated huts which will be erected by the crew of H.M.S. "Tyne" now at Agadir. Considerable supplies of blankets, tents, medical and other essential items have already been 29W landed by the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force.
Parliament will be asked in due course to vote the money by means of a supplementary estimate to the Foreign Office Grants and Services Vote. In the meantime, an advance is being obtained from the Civil Contingencies Fund.
