§ Mr. MarplesI am informed by the British Transport Commission that good progress has been made with the electrification of suburban lines in the Clyde Valley around Glasgow. Test running is taking place on a 6 mile section of the 51 route miles scheduled for electrification on the north side of the river and it is expected that the first of the public services will be introduced in 1960. The electrification of a further 19¾ route miles on the south side of the river is also planned.
