§ 76. Mr. Mendelsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what instructions he has issued to the Metropolitan Police designed to prevent Fascist groups from interfering with peaceful demonstrations in an organised effort to provoke a breach of the peace by such acts as giving the Hitler salute, shouting "Sieg Heil," spitting at members of the public, and shouting indecent insults; and whether he will issue further instructions to prevent such deliberate acts of provocation in the future.
§ Mr. R. A. ButlerNone. It is for the police to decide what action to take to enforce the law or to prevent a breach of the peace in any particular circumstances, and they are well able to deal with incidents of the kind envisaged by the hon. Member.
