HC Deb 02 March 1960 vol 618 c141W
Mr. Mulley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps Her Majesty's Government have taken to implement and ratify the Convention of Western European Union, to enable the Agency for the Control of Armaments to carry out its work effectively, signed on 14th December, 1957; how many member-Governments have ratified the Convention so far; and what steps he intends to take to get the Convention into operation, in view of the increasing importance of the control of armaments in Western Europe.

Mr. R. Allan

As I told the hon. Gentleman last night, as soon as the Western European Union (Immunities and Privileges) Order, 1959, which the House then approved, has been made, Her Majesty's Government intend to ratify the Convention. No other member State of the Western European Union has yet ratified it, but all the members are frequently reminded of the need to do so.
