Mr. Hendersonasked the Minister of Health, as representing the Minister for Science, what official reports, including reports from African territories for which Her Majesty's Government are responsible, he has received with regard to the creation of radioactive fall-out following the recent French atomic test in the Sahara Desert.
§ Mr. Walker-SmithThe only official observations available to Her Majesty's Government from stations outside the United Kingdom come from those set up in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Gambia. Samples at those stations show that the highest level of radioactivity measured in the fall-out was such that the dose to the general population including children would be much less than that admissible each year according to the recommendations of the International Commission of Radiological Protection.
