§ Mrs. Castleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies why the subjects and departments formerly dealt with by the Kenya Minister for African Affairs have now become the responsibility of the Chief Secretary of Kenya.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe Kenya Government announced in May, 1959, their intention ultimately to transfer responsibility for the Provincial Administration to the Chief Secretary, who is the senior Minister and Head of the Kenya Civil Service. The retirement in February of the Minister for African Affairs gave a suitable opportunity for this transfer to be carried out.
