§ 70. Mr. Callaghanasked the Minister of State for Commonwealth Relations if he will make a statement about the conversations of the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Relations in the Central African Federation.
§ Mr. AlportMy noble Friend met the Prime Ministers of the Federation and of Southern Rhodesia together with their Ministerial colleagues. Details of the conversations are, of course, confidential. My noble Friend was anxious to hear at first hand the views of the Federal and Southern Rhodesian Cabinets on how they see the future shape of events in the Federation in this important period leading up to the Federal Review Conference. His discussions were most valuable for this purpose.
