Mr. Darlingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what arrangements are made by the Commissioner of Police to ensure that a police officer or some other responsible person is on duty at each school road crossing in the Metropolitan area when children are entering or leaving schools.
§ Mr. Renton1,920 of the school crossings in the Metropolitan Police District are supervised by school crossing patrols, police officers or police cadets. It is not feasible to supervise every crossing, and 143W priority is given to those where the children, in reasonable numbers, have to cross a busy road.
