64. Mr. Slaterasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in view of the agreement with the European Coal and Steel Community of 21st December, 1954, if he is now in a position to make a statement about the success of this form of association and the prospects for the future.
§ Mr. R. AllanThe Council of Association 'between the United Kingdom and the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community has proved useful for discussion of coal and steel problems between ourselves and member countries. As has been stated, any question of moving from the present form of association towards membership of the Coal and Steel Community would have to be considered in the context of a wider European settlement.
