§ Mr. Greenasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the forthcoming independence of the Somaliland Protectorate, or her proposed union with Somalia, will affect her membership of the sterling area.
Mr. AmoryYes. The Somaliland Protectorate is at present a member of the sterling area by virtue of her Pro72W tectorate status, and will therefore automatically cease to be a member of the area on 26th June.
