§ Mr. WatkinsonThe size of the National Service intake is determined by estimates of commitments during the two succeeding years, and the extent to which they can be discharged by regular Service men. These estimates are prepared after a careful examination of all relevant factors. If the requirement changes during the year, the National Service intake is altered accordingly.
