§ Mr. Robert Cookeasked the Minister of Works when the reconstruction of Clevedon Court, Somerset, will be completed; at what approximate cost; and when the building will be open to the public.
§ Lord John HopeI understand from the owner that repairs and adaptations at Clevedon Court are due to be completed in September, 1960, at a revised estimated cost of £29,000. On the recommendation of the Historic Buildings Council for England my predecessor in March, 1959, approved a grant of £19,130 towards the full cost of repairs; an application for an increased grant towards the cost of additional repairs is at present under consideration. On completion the building is to be handed over to the National Trust, who hope to open it to the public at Easter, 1961.
