HL Deb 28 July 1960 vol 225 cc977-8WA
LORD CHORLEY

asked Her Majesty's Government

Whether, in the event of the Administration of Justice Bill receiving the Royal Assent, they will arrange for legal aid to be made available for appeals to the House of Lords.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

I intend to make an Order which will make legal aid available in all civil and criminal appeals from English courts; it will take effect as soon as arrangements can be made after the passing of the Administration of Justice Bill. My right honourable friend, the Secretary of State for Scotland, has informed me that he intends to make a similar Order in relation to appeals from the Court of Session.

House adjourned at seven o'clock.
