Mr. Gresham Cookeasked the Minister of Transport to state the position in regard to the authorisation of further road construction and improvement schemes for the North Orbital Road and North Circular Road.
§ Mr. MarplesPreparation has been authorised for the three major improvement schemes on the North Circular Road listed below, but I cannot yet say when construction is likely to start. I do not regard the construction of the North Orbital Road as having the same priority as the improvement of the North Circular Road and no major schemes on it are being prepared. A new route across the North of London will be provided by the "D" Ring Road from A.1 to A.10. A line for this road is now being surveyed.
Following is the list:
- Brent Cross Flyover—Junction of A.41 and A.406—Estimated cost £750,000.
- Bowes Road to Great North Way—duplication of carriageway—Estimated cost £750.000.
- Silver Street Diversion construction of dual carriageways—Estimated cost £320,000.
