§ 60. Mr. Nabarroasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer his estimate of the effect, to date, upon National Savings and other personal savings, of his budgetary measures of April, 1960.
Mr. AmoryThe published figures show that the net inflow of National Savings in the first sixteen weeks of the present financial year has been rather lower than in the corresponding period last year, but it is much too early to forecast the result for the year as a whole. No figures are yet available which indicate the trend of personal savings generally since the Budget.
