§ 92. Mr. Mackieasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs how far ahead he is prepared to allow borough councils compulsorily to buy land for housing.
§ Mr. H. BrookeMany factors affect the timing of the purchase of housing land by local authorities. These vary so widely that it is not possible to give a specific answer to the hon. Member's question. There is a limitation in the Housing Act, 1957, that land acquired compulsorily for housing should be needed within ten years of confirmation of the relevant compulsory purchase order, and subject to this I consider every order submitted to me on its merits.
