§ Mr. MaclayYes. Sir Ronald Thomson, who has held this appointment for nearly seven years, has asked to be relieved of it for reasons of health. Colonel Sir James M. Miller, who is at present the Civil Defence Controller of Berwickshire, has accepted the appointment as his successor from 1st January, 1961. I should like to take this opportunity of recording my warm appreciation of Sir Ronald Thomson's services to civil defence, not only in the Eastern Zone but in Scotland as a whole.
