§ Mr. H. BrookeThe total amounts spent by local authorities on the acquisition of land and buildings in the financial years ended 31st March, 1951, 1955 and 1959 were, respectively, £27,694,000, £32,174,000, and £38,588,000. The corresponding figure for 1959–60 is provisionally estimated at £52,082,000. I regret that no figures are available as to the total amount of land purchased.
