Mr. Gowerasked the President of the Board of Trade how many new jobs will be made available by the major industrial developments in South Wales which have been announced during the last year; and what proportion of these will be provided in places classified as development districts under the terms of the Local Employment Bill.
§ Mr. MaudlingOf more than 20,000 new jobs which are expected to accrue in the South Wales and Monmouthshire Development Area, as a result of projects in hand or in prospect, nearly 8,000 are attributable to major industrial developments which have been announced during the past 12 months, and three-quarters of these are to be provided in areas which have been designated as development districts.
