§ Mr. AlportThe results of the elections to the nine District Councils held from 20th to 22nd January were as follows:
Basutoland Congress Party 73 seats Basutoland National Party 22 seats Marema Tlou 16 seats Independents 51 seats The elections for the 40 "elected" members of the Basutoland National Council—at which the electors were the members of the District Councils sitting as Electoral Colleges—concluded on 17th February and the results were as follows:
Basutoland Congress Party 29 seats Marema Tlou 5 seats Basutoland National Party 1 seat Independents 5 seats
