§ 67. Mr. Fernyhoughasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he will state the total cost to the taxpayer of subsidies and all other forms of assistance given to the agricultural industry from 1945 to 1959, inclusive.
§ Mr. John HareThe cost of agricultural support for the financial years 1945–46 to 1958–59, inclusive, totaled 139W £1,536 million. These figures do not include food subsidies borne by the Ministry of Food up to 1954–55 or any administrative overheads.
