Mr. Ronald Bellasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is aware of dissatisfaction among farmers with the working of Section 24 (2) (d) of the Agricultural Holdings Act, 1948; and if he will consult the National Farmers' Union and the Country Landowners' Association to see if agreement can be reached upon a proposal to amend the law.
§ Mr. GodberIt has been suggested that the Section is capable of abuse, but my information is that abuse has been rare. My right hon. Friend is, however, considering whether any amendment of the law is necessary and has already been in touch with the National Farmers' Union and the Country Landowners' Association about it.
