HL Deb 17 February 1960 vol 221 c154WA
LORD BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government if, arising from the revised arrangements for imports from China, it is to be understood the quotas imposed are considered adequate to cover quantities available for export so that exports from the United Kingdom are unlikely to be impeded.

THE MINISTER WITHOUT PORTFOLIO (THE EARL OF DUNDEE)

The quotas established under the new arrangements apply only to a small proportion of our imports from China and have been fixed, in general, at levels which should allow a substantial increase in trade. We certainly hope that the Chinese authorities also look forward to an expansion of Sino-British Trade.

House adjourned at six minutes before seven o'clock.
