§ 46. Mr. Tileyasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware of the bad effect on the United Kingdom textile trade of the continuation during 1960 of the United States tariff quota on woollen and worsted cloth imports; what representations he has made in this matter; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. ErrollWhen my right hon. Friend was in Washington last month he expressed his concern about this matter to the United States authorities. My hon. Friend will be aware that, at the request of Her Majesty's Government, the United States Government have agreed to renegotiate the tariff quota arrangements. I hope that this will result in a satisfactory long-term settlement of the problem.
