§ 4. Lieut.-Colonel Bromley-Davenportasked the Minister of Power how much coal was mechanically cut and mechanically power loaded in 1959 compared with 1950, on the basis of figures provided for table eight of his Statistical Digest.
§ Mr. WoodProvisional figures for 1959 show that 69 million tons of coal were power loaded compared with eight million tons in 1950. The amount of coal mechanically cut in 1959 is not yet known, but in 1958 it was 210 million tons compared with 176 million tons in 1950. The figures are on a "raised and weighed" basis.
