59. Mr. Gower

asked the Minister of Health what steps he is taking to meet the present shortage of dentists in many parts of Wales.

Miss Pitt

The shortage of dentists affects the country as a whole My right hon. and learned Friend gave details of the Government's plans to expand dental training facilities in reply to a Question on 16th November, 1959. These plans include a new dental hospital to form part of the new teaching hospital at Cardiff.

56. Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Health the number of National Health Service prescriptions for pairs of spectacle lenses for children accepted by the Doncaster Executive Council during the year 1959, and the number of National Health Service frames selected by the patients on these prescriptions.

Miss Pitt

It is estimated that 1,350 pairs of glasses were authorised of which about 1,000 were dispensed with new National Health Service frames.
