HC Deb 15 February 1960 vol 617 c91W
Sir S. Summers

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government and Minister for Welsh Affairs, in cases where local authorities are wishing to sell back to its original owner land formerly compulsorily acquired but no longer needed, on what grounds he refuses permission to sell at the original price.

Sir K. Joseph

Local authorities are required by law to sell land at the best price reasonably obtainable unless they get my right hon. Friend's consent to a lower price. Where the sale is to the original owner, he is ready to consider a lower price if the original purchase was made, under compulsory powers, within the last few years.
