asked the Secretary of State for War how many soldiers of the Royal Malta Artillery have been court-martialled for taking part, in civilian clothes, in a demonstration organised by the Maltese Labour Party on 8th December last; and what sentences were imposed upon them.

Three. One of them, who was also convicted of leaving his military duty without permission, was sentenced to 84 days' imprisonment and discharge from the Army. The second was sentenced to 112 days' detention and reduction to the ranks; and the third was severely reprimanded. These sentences are subject to confirmation
